there's nothing like having a little piece of something to remind you of home. this past weekend i had just that in a glass. at the congregation ale house in long beach, they had a taping special of one of my favorite colorado breweries, great divide. if you are looking for some amazingly great beer, you need to check congregation out. i'm not sure how long they will have some of the great divide beer on draft, so don't hold out for too long. ask for the hercules double ipa, you won't be sorry.

awesome... i shot that

yesterday i was given a copy of the beastie boys ground breaking live dvd, awesome i shot that. the live show was recored at new york's madison square garden back in '06. the thing that makes this live dvd way cooler than most live dvds is that it was shot by 50 fans who where given video cameras before the show. the footage is from the fans point of view from all over the venue at all times of the show. this is a dvd that you should really check out. click on the post title above to watch the boys preform the song root down.

if your looking for some truly unique instrumental, shoegaze, math rock music, then toe is the band for you. hailing from japan, this band melts your ears and steals your hearts within minutes of listening to their tunes. recently, i discovered their live dvd. their live show sounds like you're still listening to the actual recording not four dudes jamming in front of you. click on the post title above to watch a clip from the dvd. this is one of my favorite toe songs ever, with the most amazing drum into.

refused, one of the most important and influential bands of our generation has rereleased their classic album, the shape of punk to come. along with the rerelease, which includes b-side tracks, they released a documentary about the band and their very last show ever. you can watch this documentary over at pitchfork for free, but you'd better hurry it won't be up on there for very long. in my eyes, refused are never fucking dead!!!
